Vermont Coyotes Sign Lavon Long!

Lavon Long is a 6'7" guard/forward from Baltimore, Maryland who brings size, versatility, and high-level experience to the Vermont Coyotes roster. He first made a name for himself at Siena College, where he quickly established himself as one of the program’s most reliable players. During his time with the Saints, he earned MAAC All-Freshman honors and developed into a well-rounded contributor, ranking among the conference leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists, and field goal percentage. Known as a tough, physical player who could impact the game on both ends of the floor, Long became a matchup problem with his ability to rebound like a forward while handling the ball and creating offense like a guard. His career included several memorable performances, including a dominant 25-point, eight-assist game against Canisius, where he became the first Division I player in 15 years to make at least seven field goals and 11 free throws in a game without a miss, as well as multiple double-doubles against top MAAC opponents.

After college, Long continued his career overseas, playing professionally in Germany with the Hebeisen White Wings Hanau in the ProA league, where he showcased his skills against some of Europe’s toughest competition. His international experience sharpened his game and added to his reputation as a versatile and dependable presence on the court. Now, Long is set to begin a new chapter in his career by joining the Vermont Coyotes of the ABA, where he will bring leadership, experience, and a proven ability to perform at a high level. His combination of size, strength, and skill will make him an exciting addition for Coyotes fans as the team continues building toward its inaugural season.

“Giving Athletes A True Opportunity At Professional Basketball”

A Historic Moment for Vermont Basketball at Barre Auditorium
On Tuesday, the Vermont Coyotes made history by placing their official team logo at center court inside the legendary Barre Auditorium—a moment that marks a new era in professional basketball in Vermont. For the first time in the Aud’s 85-year legacy, the hardwood floor now proudly displays the identity of a pro basketball team. This iconic venue has hosted countless Vermont high school championships and community events, but never before has it featured a professional team logo at its center. The Vermont Coyotes, an emerging franchise in the American Basketball Association (ABA), are proud to call Barre home—and this moment makes that official.

More Than a Logo—A Statement of Belonging
This wasn’t just a branding move—it was a powerful symbol of commitment to the local community and the future of professional basketball in Vermont. The installation was completed with precision and pride by Yipes of Barre, whose outstanding team brought the vision to life with unmatched quality and care. We are incredibly thankful for their partnership and support in making this moment possible. This was not paint—it was purpose. And now, Barre Auditorium is more than just a legendary venue. It is the official home of the Vermont Coyotes ABA team, and a bold new chapter in Vermont sports history has officially begun.

“We Understand Our Foundation”

The Vermont Coyotes believe in making sure we empower all voices during the process of our organizations journey. What once was a dream talked about on a porch in Lyndonville Vermont became forward progress through consistency and sacrifice. Nobody sacrifices more than a community that is being built to last forever. The Vermont Coyotes want to assure you that supporting us is one of the best decisions you can make if you believe in people and opportunity.

Building Sustainability

Our friends at the Vermont Lake Monsters Association have been nothing but extremely supportive of The Vermont Coyotes coming to Barre Vermont. We were able to have some of our players and part of our staff introduced to their crowd during one of the Lake Monsters games this past year and we couldn’t be more honored. Learning from what has made the Lake Monsters successful on and off the field has been great for the organization and we look forward to the continued friendly partnership we are building!
